Community Partners
Mobilizing Minds collaborates with community organizations from the various sectors that work with young adults (ages 18-25 years old) to ensure our processes are effective and to seek guidance on the information resources we are developing.
Mobilizing Minds’ core community partner is mindyourmind, a non-profit mental health program that engages youth, emerging adults and the professionals who serve them to co-develop reliable and relevant resources. These resources are designed to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and increase access and use of community support, both professional and peer-based. Through the use of active engagement, best practice and technology, mindyourmind inspires youth to reach out, get help and give help. In the context of Mobilizing Minds mindyourmind facilitates our Young Adult Team.
Community Partnership Team
Mobilizing Minds invites organizations working with young adults to participate in our Community Partnership Team on an on-going basis. Since young adults with mental health concerns often access multiple services (e.g., employment, education, housing, primary care, etc.) it’s important to have mental health information and resources readily available to them at these various sites. Thus, the Community Partnership Team includes cross-sectoral community organizations, young adults and members of the Mobilizing Minds project who are working together to ensure the final evidence-based mental health resources/products are easily accessible and widely available to young adults throughout Canada. Together, members of the Community Partnership Team are building partnerships and collaborating around young adult mental health.
Activities of this team to date have included:
- Attendance at webinars sharing Mobilizing Minds research findings.
- Participation in two community forums to discuss knowledge mobilization and young adult mental health.
- Access to a private online network to facilitate the exchange of information, resources and opportunities related to young adult mental health.
- Upcoming activities will also involve opportunities to provide feedback on Mobilizing Minds’ draft information resources.
