Jennifer McPhee
I am the Project Coordinator for Mobilizing Minds (MM). I am currently on maternity leave and welcome Monica Nunes as the new Coordinator for Year 4 of the project. My educational background includes an Honours BA in Psychology and an MSc in Mental Health Counselling. Prior to joining Mobilizing Minds, I was employed at Brock University (for 7years) as a Research Manager, coordinating multiple large-scale research projects focused on youth mental health, problem gambling and substance abuse. As well, I have several years of clinical experience working as a mental health and addictions counsellor in outpatient and inpatient settings.
What do you like about being involved with Mobilizing Minds?
I enjoy working with such a diverse team of researchers, young adults and community partners. Each team member/partner brings something different to the group which makes the project and our work truly unique. I feel very fortunate to work with (and learn from) this amazing group of people.
What do you hope to achieve with Mobilizing Minds?
I hope that the tools and resources that come out of this project meet the needs of young adults across Canada (and those who support them) and are widely utilized. I’m optimistic that the end products will help reduce stigma, increase mental health literacy and assist young adults in making informed choices about their mental health. I hope that young adults, community organizations and researchers in Canada continue to work in partnership towards the common goal of improving young adult mental health.
