Amanda Aziz

I am an 18 year old student who hails from London, Ontario. In my spare time, I love to read, write, talk about my love for films, music, and elephants, and to volunteer. Due to personal experience and passion, I have been a mental advocate for a few years now. I have been a volunteer at mindyourmind since 2009 and have accumulated over 225 volunteer hours. Within those years at mindyourmind, I have taken part in over twelve projects, which were all for promoting mental health awareness and diminishing stigma.

What do you like about being involved with Mobilizing Minds?

I like that in Mobilizing Minds, there is a strong collaboration between professionals and young adults for when it comes to research. We may not be world-renowned specialists, but Mobilizing Minds makes sure that our voice matters just as much as one.

What do you hope to achieve with Mobilizing Minds?

It may sound cliché, but I hope to be a voice for people my age. This is the time when a lot of people experience difficulties with their mental health, and many don’t know where and how to get help. So what better way is there for professionals and researchers to reach out to young adults than to have help from the young adults themselves? I want to be able to help bridge the gap between young adults and professionals/researchers, and by being involved with Mobilizing Minds, I’m hopeful that it will happen.
