Pauline Fogarty
My name is Pauline Fogarty and I am a Young Adult Team Member of Mobilizing Minds. I also sit on the Community Partnership, Partnership Evaluation, and Publication Policy sub-teams. I have received my Recreation and Leisure and Social Service Worker diplomas from Confederation College and am currently entering my fourth year of the Honours Bachelor of Social Work Program at Lakehead University. My passion for social action led me to do my third year placement at the Gender Issues Centre on campus.
My employment includes working for Wesway as a Respite Worker, St. Joseph’s Health Centre as a summer Social Work Student, and Kanachihih Solvent Abuse Treatment Centre as a Casual Residential Worker.
What do you like about being involved with Mobilizing Minds?
Mobilizing Minds is an innovative and ground-breaking project that is focused on knowledge mobilization around mental health. I enjoy participating in a project with national scope alongside other advocates of mental health and am excited about gaining an academic perspective of evidence-based practice. I listen, participate, and learn with the knowledgeable and creative partners, researchers, and other young adult team members.
What do you hope to achieve with Mobilizing Minds?
I hope that this project contributes to the creation of treatment options for young adults across Canada in the format they want support, when they want to receive assistance, where they want help from, and from whom they prefer service. I am learning about research methods and options for enhancing resources to effectively reach young adults in their preferred formats.
